There’s something about the hills…(Part 1)

Uttarakhand, India

There’s something about the hills,

I can’t quite explain,

That always pulls me in,

like a drunk to his bane,

except that it leaves me

happy and rejuvenated,

free of all worries,

I may have accumulated.

The cold, chilling weather

that’s adverse to many,

seems like just a mask,

of a tough nut cookie.

That’s actually a softie

inside, at heart,

with a lap that is

bursting with goodies.

The cool, sparkling water

that refreshes your soul,

The gurgling rivers,

a sight to behold,

The majestic hills

touching the sky,

the beautifully carved stones,

all smiles,

The moon and the stars

seem to shine only for you,

just a little brighter

than the brightest hue.

A sense of immense calm

gushes over me,

as I revel

in this beauty,

& I realize why sages

were thought

to have come here

for serenity.

  1. Apurva, wonderful poem. 🙂

  2. such a gorgeously spun ode to some of the nicest triangles ever. there’s something in the air up there, that exudes warmth – no matter the frostbite.

    • Thank you for your visit and the lovely comment…yes indeed there is something in the air of the mountains….I find it soothing…almost therapeutic 🙂

      • yeah, it dissolves city-scapes in teacups full of noise, pollution and discourtesies. ahh the hills, sometimes i want to master sumo wrestling just to learn the basics of mind teleportation.

you have a lovely day and i look forward to reading more (knuckle-bump) 🙂
