The Craziest First Impression

Some first impressions are meant to last for eternity..

while others fade into oblivion…which would you rather prefer?

It’s not that easy an  answer… 🙂

It was our first trip…

to my Uncle’s place,

who had shifted here,

with bag and baggage.

I was excited about

seeing their home,

(It is in one of the ‘posh’est of zones,)

We left our house

on a nice Sunday,

in my dad’s office car,

with the driver holding sway.

He looked to me as old as my dad,

but called me ‘madam’ as part of the diktat.

We then settled down inside the car,

dad in front,

mom & me at the rear.

We were taking in the sites as we went,

jumping from one flyover to the next,

It was a pleasant ride,

a little bumpy maybe,

but nothing to write about,

no funny story.

Maybe that’s why someone

sitting up there,

decided to spice it up,

with drama and effects!

I sat there wondering what the hell is wrong,

why this one hour journey’s stretching for so long,

but it was too late by then of course!

Time stood still,

all eyes on me,

while my crazy stomach’s insides

on my mom’s sari!

Not just that,

it was all over the car,

which the poor driver offered

to clean up later,

As for me,

you can imagine my embarrassment,

my face all red,

wishing I was

invisible for that moment.

When I came out again to sit in the car,

all cleaned up,

ready to start,

I can’t forget

the driver’s expression,

as he asked me

if I’ve,

come with

adequate preparation!!

(By the way he now does this every time I’m in his car for a long drive…talk of everlasting first impressions!)
