Mother (Painting poem)
The day you enter this beautiful world
is the day she becomes a mother.
Her eyes moisten with tears of joy,
as you scream and cry and holler.
her days begin and end with you,
so do her nights from then.
Her precious sleep and rest forgone
to feed you as and when.
She fights the urge to go back to work,
only for the sake of you,
Your innocent smile melts her heart,
as does your wink or two.
The first time she sees you off
you refuse to leave her side,
So she comes along and stays in class,
till all your tears have dried.
But when you begin enjoying school,
and you bid your mum goodbye,
you rush into class with a cheerful smile,
while she lets out a sigh!
You test her patience many a times,
in your troublesome teenage years,
But she keeps her cool and talks some sense,
unlike your impetuous peers.
Yet, by the time you become an adult,
you forget all she did for you,
The least you can do is make this day special,
before you miss it too!
Happy Mother’s day to all mothers and specially to mine!!
I made this painting long back..
but included it with this poem because it goes with it very well..
Hope you enjoy both!!holler: informal- shout, scream foregone: give up; go without impetuous: spontaneous, impulsive; characterised by violent force
